Structure
Plan Response
The proposal
to build up to 6000 houses on Green Belt land between the villages
of Sunningwell, Bayworth and the A34 is not a formal planning application,
and little information has as yet been provided by the developers
who are using the Oxfordshire County Council Structure Plan public
consultation process in an attempt to enable the scheme to go ahead.
SPADE in representing the concerns and interests of local residents,
seeks to prevent this totally inappropriate and disproportionate
development from being considered worthy of inclusion in future
drafts of the Structure Plan.
SPADE therefore
acted urgently to help get as large a response as possible to the
public consultation on the draft structure plan
SPADE co-ordinated
the public response to the structure plan from Sunningwell, Bayworth
and the surrounding area. We delivered structure plan response
forms
to all households in the parish to enable everyone to make a comment
during the consultation process, highlighting why a proposal
on
the scale of Penbridge would be totally inappropriate for the locality.
We provided forms that were partly filled with appropriate responses,
as requested at the public meeting on the proposal and we also
provided
blank forms to allow people to make their own individual responses.
We co-ordinated the return of parishioners’ forms which
were collected for delivery to the county council.
On Wednesday
5th November SPADE delivered over 350 responses
to the structure plan to Councillor Anne Purse on behalf of local
residents. This event received front page coverage in the local
press. You can see this on our Press
coverage page. Many other response forms were returned directly
to the county council by local residents.
This
is a massive response – thank you to everyone who completed
response forms.
